WWDC 2023 Day 3: A Few Notable Videos
A few more videos to put on your watchlist from Thursday (Core Data, SwiftData, and more)! Only one more day of WWDC23 to go.
Today was the third day of WWDC 2023 video sessions released on Appleās developer portal. There is one more day of sessions to go through on Friday.
Seems like my last coverage and opinions on SwiftData sparked some commenting on social media :) Oh, well, what else do I expect from Appleās cultish following?? I promise I donāt get offended by something like, so please go ahead and share your thoughts with me.
In this article, Iāll share the list of what videos and sessions Iām shortlisting to dive in and watch later. Iāll be covering some of the session videos in depth in future articles.
Notable Sessions From Thursday
Less āmust watchā videos this time, some Core Data improvements and SwiftData migration. Personally, Iām most interested in the one about uploading large files and creating practical workflows in Xcode Cloud. Hereās my shortlist:
What's new in Core Data & Migrate to SwiftData

https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10189/
Itās good to see that despite the new SwiftData library, Core Data gets some love as well. Complicated disruptive migrations are rare with persistence on iOS but nevertheless happen. Iām curious to see what Apple recommends to do in those cases.
Migrate to SwiftData is yet another video about the new SwiftData library that Iāll be watching along with the rest of them.
Build robust and resumable file transfers

Uploading large files and handling spotty network connection along the way is something Iāve been interested in lately (as Iām working on a feature that needs it).
I am curious to see what Apple has in store for this. I just hope itās well integrated with BackgroundTasks framework :)
Create practical workflows in Xcode Cloud
https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10278/
Iāve been delighted with Xcode Cloud for several months now. Apple made the right move acquiring BuddyBuild and integrating it into its set of developer tools.
Iām eager to see the improvements made. Currently, even though it is very robust, Xcode Cloud is lacking in features and customizability you could achieve for your CI/CD pipeline with, letās say, a combination of Fastlane + CircleCI.
Design dynamic Live Activities & Update Live Activities with push notifications
https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2023/10194/

This is another particular area of my interest since Iām working on a feature that involves Live Activities. Weāll see what new cool enhancements and features they added to it this year.
Conclusion
What videos and sessions are you excited about? What do you not care to watch? Let me know in the comments below or by replying to this email, Iād love to hear from you!
